In the UK a couple who had attempted four cycles of donor egg were offered by the woman’s mother that she would be a surrogate.

In the absence of donors for eggs the couple elected to use donor embryo. The tabloids made much of the IVF twins with five parents but it took the couple three years since the birth of their children to have their legal status determined and adoption granted.
