In Germany preimplantation diagnosis, egg donation and surrogacy are prohibited.

Researchers in Germany have surveyed infertile couples and the general population to find that the legislation is out of step with the population attitudes. Specifically they found that  Germans were not generally well-informed about PGD or ART however the vast majority  were supportive of its use for detection of genetic disorders.
