 29-Aug-06 PCOS One day Conference

The support and advocacy group Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Association of Australia Inc (POSAA) is holding a one-day conference on how best to manage PCOS in Sydney, on Saturday September 30.  The theme is “POSAAtively Managing PCOS”.

It’s often difficult finding reliable information on how best to treat PCOS; from the basics of managing insulin resistance, excess weight, excess hair, and infertility through to PCOS in teenagers and how to avoid the serious complications that can occur when a patient enters their 40s and 50s.

POSAA’s one day conference will cover all these issues. This event is like a “one stop shop” where PCOS patients can get all that information, in one place from renowned Australian specialists on the Syndrome.

Topics covered at this conference include: PCOS and insulin resistance, Metformin and Pregnancy, Exercise and PCOS, the Low GI diet, Laser and IPL hair removal, PCOS and Adolescence, Fertility Fitness, Pregnancy: the other options, Surviving the 40s and 50s, Managing Menstrual Problems, “Depression, Heart disease and the Jean Hailes Foundation” and ending the day, there will be a special one hour forum “Ask the Doctors”.

Guest speakers include: Dr Warren Kidson, Professor and author of “Polycystic Ovary Syndrome” John Eden, Dr ‘Mac’ Talbot, Dr Anne Clark, Professor Helena Teede, Dr John Mahony, Dietitian and author of “The New Glucose Revolution: Managing PCOS” Kate Marsh and Exercise physiologist Adam Fraser.

Registration closes on September 15: forms can be down-loaded at POSAA’s website: www.posaa.asn.au or phone (02) 8250 0222.
