I have been a member of ACCESS since its inception and was particularly excited when Sandra Dill suggested the idea of a national network to support infertile families. I am currently a Director of ACCESS and have recently been appointed as a consumer representative on the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC).
Before ACCESS was formed, consumers had difficulty obtaining quality information about infertility and reproductive technologies.
My infertility experience began in 1980. Because opportunities for treatment were scarce in the early days, my husband Jim and I had to wait almost five years before treatment could begin. After sixteen stimulated cycles and three miscarriages, we were blessed in 1991 with a son, Scott. I continued with treatment seeking a sibling for Scott, but after a total of 26 cycles, decided to call it a day.
I have retained a considerable interest in infertility issues, and have a thorough understanding of the complex emotional issues involved with infertility and miscarriage.
